The Intrepid 5x7 Hardwood is a hybrid of solid hardwood and machined aluminium. Walnut, Cherry or Beech is supported on precision aluminium frames, giving you the warmth of natural wood with the strength and stability of metal. Each camera is cut and sanded in our Brighton workshop, then finished by hand with a protective wax/oil, so the grain on every one is completely unique.

A 5x7 negative holds an incredible amount of detail. This scan of a single sheet comes in at over 90 megapixels, and that still isn't the limit of what the film can hold. Hover or drag over the image to take a closer look.

Three Unique Characters

Every Hardwood camera is cut from a single piece of timber, so no two are the same. Here's how our three woods compare, and how each one changes as it's used.

Colours are illustrative. Wood is natural, so every camera's colour and grain will be a little different.

Behind the scenes

Group 31

Now in its 3rd generation, the Intrepid 5x7 is a modern rethink of the traditional large format field camera.

Whilst being super lightweight (at 1.6kg), and fast to set up, it is also incredibly hardwearing and reliable, producing great results no matter the conditions.
