When paired with your ground glass the Fresnel screen will brighten the projected image to make focusing easier in all conditions.

On all generations of the Intrepid 8x10 the correct way to mount a Fresnel screen is on top of the ground glass, between yourself and the glass.

Fitting the Fresnel to your Intrepid 8x10:

You will need: PH00 screwdriver

  1. Remove one of the clips that hold the glass in place
  2. Loosen the screw holding the other clip but no need to take it completely out
  3. Lay the Fresnel on top of the ground glass (textured side against the glass)
  4. Ensure the glass and Fresnel are lined up and straight
  5. Replace the clip you removed and tighten the screws to ensure both Fresnel and glass are secure
  6. Don't overtighten the screws!

While not crucial for your camera a Fresnel will considerably brighten the projected image on your ground glass making focusing easier especially in dimmer lighting conditions or when using wide angle lenses.
