Intrepid Super 120 System

¥39,600 Regular price

ESTIMATED Lead Time: 5 Weeks

The Super 120 System magazine is designed to give you the most out of a roll of medium format film on your 4x5 Camera. Multiple formats from 6x4.5 to 6x12 all on the same roll.

From a classic 6x4.5 portrait format, to stunning high-fidelity 6x12 panoramas-the Super 120 allows any combination you can think of.

An innovative mechanical counter renders total creative control over how you use your film.

The magazine is supplied as an unassembled 3D printed kit: with colour-coded components, matte black fibreglass frame masks and all the hardware you'll need.

A printed instruction manual is provided to guide you through building the kit, loading film, and using the magazine. It also comes with a felt carry-case to protect and transport the magazine.

Why Did We Make the Super 120 System?

Sometimes sheet film isn’t the right tool for the job, perhaps a smaller negative is ideal for the project you’re working on, or you want the convenience of shooting multiple pictures without carrying lots of equipment. or maybe you just want to experiment with techniques that a dedicated medium-format camera just can’t do. This is where roll-film comes into its own: compact, readily available, and high-quality.

There are a variety of roll-film backs available for Graflok cameras. Many are expensive and others are hard to get hold of; with no guarantee on the longevity of second hand units. Only a handful allow you to shoot different aspect ratios, so you’re committed to one format. Got a 6x6 back but want to try 6x9? You’ll need to buy another back.

At Intrepid, our commitment is to making analogue photography as accessible as possible. We could’ve designed six different backs and sold them separately, but that’s not what we’re about. We want our products to lower barriers of entry into the craft, which is why we’ve spent so much time developing a product that gives you options to explore. We chose to make the Super 120 a self-assembly kit, not only to keep it affordable, but to share the reward of making your own photographic equipment.

Building something gives you a first-hand understanding of how it goes together, why it works the way it does, and how to fix it yourself. We worked hard to make the build process enjoyable and straightforward, including snap-together features and pleasing tactile feedback.

Switching Formats & Loading Film

Group 31

Will explains how to advance from one frame to the next, as well as how to switch between different formats.

With a little practice, you will find the process very natural, but you can always refer back to this video or the instruction booklet if it has been a while!

In this video, Will demonstrates how easy it is to load film into the Super 120 System. Anyone who has used a medium-format camera will find the process familiar, and it is very easy for beginners to learn!

Fun And Easy To Build Yourself

The Super 120 System comes supplied as a kit in several parts. But don't worry we have a super clear set of instructions and an assembly video you can follow.

Not only is building the kit great fun, it also shows you how the system works and how you can service and repair it over the years. Throughout the design process, we have taken great care to ensure that assembly is an enjoyable and insightful experience.

And ofcourse if you have any problems at all, we are here to help!
